General Minh's regime was overturned by general khanh january in 1964. U.S madox was doing its mission, which was getting information about the north vietnam's territory and position. While it was on the duty, it was attacked by torpedo boat in the gulf ok Tonkin on august 2. Two days later, it received attack from vietnam boat. By the help of air attack, U.S.S medox could beat one boat and damaged the other boats.Although the report of second attack was a lie to get power to use millitary force freely by president Johnson later, this lie played an decisive role to make America get involved in Vietnam war. To do this, president Johnson declared Gulf of Tonkin resolution and U.S finally decided to revenge vietnam.
