OLD: Peer pressure on immigrants in high schools causes under achievement, low self esteem and isolation which may cause them to injure and/or kill themselves and others.
NEW: Peer pressure on non-english speaking immigrants in high schools in the US to speak and follow the American culture causes under achievement, low self-esteem and isolation which may cause them to injure and/or kill themselves and others. For example the Virginia Tech shooting, the shooter, Cho Seung-Hui, was South Korean and did not speak English clearly, he was teased and made fun of in high school.

I like this idea, but still think it's not quite critical enough--is there something about america that makes this phenomenon especially prevalent? What are the sources for this peer pressure?
