Arielle's Thesis Prompts: Part II

Old:

Generally, as in the case of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, political martyrs often gain support after death, due to emotional difficulties the community faces, and the ubiquitous concern for the well being of its government.

New:

Generally, as in the case of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, political martyrs often gain support after death, due to emotional difficulties the affected community faces, and the ubiquitous concern for the well being of its government and its people. The lack of protection for Benazir Bhutto caused anxiety  because many were disconcerted that their leader was assassinated, even with high security. There was a feeling of uneasiness which led people to question their own safety.

If you want to get away from Bhutto specifically, by all means this assignment sequence is set up for it--in particular think about the larger issues of representation and the news, or any larger issue (memorialization, news media, etc) which stems from the course thus far, and the work you did on the Bhutto will have been useful. Critically, I encourage you to do the assignment which was due tonight (3/16)--push away from the Bhutto there, and you may turn up something.
