China’s air pollution is nothing unusual in the current 21st century. Yet what triggers an unprecedented universal concern is Beijing's deteriorating air quality. Six months from now on, Beijing will host the 2008 Olympic Games on its honor. however, bad news has just come out of the local weather station that the polluted level of the air has reached the worst possible number 500 out of 500. The local government expresses both disappointments and worries at the stunning record. Three years ago, the government initiated a green scheme trying to improve the city's general environment. But it does not work out so well as what we hear today. China policy-decider is notoriously known to put the economy first, neglecting the responsibility to conserve and protect the environment. Now they suffer at the hands of their own. Every measure they take so badly is in vain. It is very unlikely that they can turn the tide given such short time. All that they are capable of now is to minimize the effects the pollution, instead of letting it getting worse and worse.

I have a strong connection to china, mostly because I am raised in china. I wish that this summer Olympic game will be the most successful one ever held in history. What a sheer embarrassment it turns out to be if the athletes all around the world choke on the arid acrid air we personally produce?

Good luck to Beijing.
