The story that comes to mind from the media is the tragic event of 9/11, because it is one of the cities worst attacks. This day is one that nobody will ever forget, for the act of terrorism was cruel and hurtful. September 11, 2001 is also a day in which every person remembers exactly where they were when they heard the bad news. This event will be remembered by everyone from New York City, and will always leave a feeling of discomfort.

The experience in which I learned of 9/11 was shocking, yet very sad because I know people who work in the city. I was in eighth grade and an announcement came over the loud speaker telling everyone to meet in the church. Our principal came up to the front and told everyone of the horrible news. The school let everyone make phone calls and arrange for a way to get home. After arriving at home, I turned on the news and watched as the horrible coverage came live. The event of 9/11 covered every channel and became an upset that is very hard to overcome.

Hence, the news reported about exact times the planes hit into the towers and the pentagon, yet they weren’t sure the reason because nobody knew about this attack. 9/11 came out of total surprise, as the media says, and became one of the nation’s worst attacks and tragic events. CNN kept posting updates on new information and different story lines on what happened and how many people were dead. This event was followed up by new stations for months after it had happened.

In conclusion, 9/11 comes right to mind for being so dramatic and hurtful for every American citizen. This event comes to mind almost everyday because I am constantly reminded by bumper stickers, posters, music, and even memorable monuments, the way we felt on 9/11 will always remain in our hearts, but also keep us reminded and possibly inspired to stay together with those loved. This event reminds us to appreciate each day and understand how quickly something can happen.

After re-reading this article, I realized that I remembered all the painful details and was accurate in describing how we as Americans felt. September 11, 2001 was an event that sacrificed thousands of casualties due to a terrorist attack on New York City. This terrible memory will always be the first thing I think of when asked about the media and news events.
